London

First trip into London today. It was crazy; the weather here was beautiful and everyone wanted to get out and enjoy it. The city was full of people and cars...lots of traffic. We worshipped this morning at Wesley Chapel. This is where John Wesley preached and lived while here in London. He died in the house that is attached to the church. His final words were, "best of all, God is with us!". The preacher at Wesley Chapel is a man named Leslie Griffiths. In addition to being a Methodist minister, Griffiths is a member of Parliament (House of Lords). He gave a great sermon on how Jesus treated people who were different (especially those considered enemies). After the service, we saw the bed that John Wesley died in, his prayer room, his study and finally his grave.

After a quick lunch on the bus we made our way to Aldersgate Street, where John Wesley had his heart warming experience. We then went to St. Paul's Cathedral. We didn't get to go inside because it is Sunday and closed for services. However, we did get to hear the bells; they ring all day on Sundays. After this we started the long journey back to Oxford. It is nice to be back in this quiet place. Had dinner in the great Hall at Manchester College again. The food here has been amazing. I think we have bee very fortunate. I have also discovered that I really like tomatoes for breakfast.

Tomorrow we are off to the countryside and Stratford on Avon (William Shakespeare's home). For now, though....off to bed.

Christ's Peace,
Brett
