Epworth

Hi all! Had a great day today...went to Epworth, the childhood home of John and Charles Wesley. We visited the rectory (the home) where they were raised. Their father Samuel was the pastor of St. Andrews Church (parts of which were built in the 1100's...it was old when the Wesley's were kids). We saw the baptismal font used at John and Charles Wesley's baptisms and the grave of Samuel Wesley, where John once preached when he was not allowed to preach inside St. Andrews. It is amazing to me how old things are here, but what a sense of sacred space there is (places where one feels closer to God).

Tonight we ate at the dining hall at Manchester College, at Oxford University. It was a little like eating in the dining hall in the Harry Potter movies (which by the way was filmed here at Oxford in the dining hall at Christ College, where John Wesley ate his meals...we are going there Saturday). We had roasted duck...a first for me. We finished the night by spending time in the Manchester College Library....it is amazing, you feel smarter just being in the room.

We are having a great time...soaking it all in...following the path that John Wesley followed as he grew closer to God. What a blessing to have this opportunity and experience. Thanks for reading.

Christ's Peace,
Brett
